Several weeks ago David and I went down to Knightville Indiana to go to the basketball hall of fame. Grandpa Pepple told us that the gym that was used in the movie Hoosiers was near there in Knightsville. So we went there as well. I was extreamly excited about this because I watched the end of that movie over 100 times in college. I used it has motivation on game days. So this movie is a part of me. So this was sureal in a way. When I stepped into the gym I could just hear the fans yelling and cheering.
Out side there were tree and power lines down all over the place. The night before a huge strom passed through the area that had tornados. If you notice in the pic above the light pole on the right is down.
This gym is still used today for local tournaments and such. It is opened and the store inside is on the honor system for the gift shop. It's great to see that sort of thing. The floor and bleachers was recently redone because some kids let off the fire extinguishers and covered the place. The foam ate the paint off the floor and wood. So they spent over 30,000 dollars to refinish the gym. It looks great.
This picture had to be in black and white to bring back that feeling of old times. (even though life was in color back then)
Charolette loved it! She walked all around the place. She picked up basketballs and walked them around. I shot some baskets and showed Charolette how to dribble. She cracked me up. I always thought that when I would have a kid they would grow up in the gym while I coached. I guess that would work out but she will come to work with me this fall so I will get her in that gym.
The look of amazement. I wonder what expression she'll have when she goes into the bigger gyms.
My beautiful little girl. A future basketball player? I would love that!!!
